About Mrs. Silva...
I taught with Chatom Union School district from 2007 to 2019. My teaching experience includes 8th grade Common Core Math, Algebra classes, PE instruction, Foundational Math classes, after-school GATE instruction, after-school tutoring, Music Appreciation classes (including some amazing African Drumming!), a brief period of after-school Choir instruction, and to top it all off: a year of teaching 1st grade!!
Where did I get the experience to teach such an extensive list, you ask? I began my schooling in Modesto, CA where I attended John Muir Elementary for kindergarten and first grade, Sonoma Elementary for 2nd through 6th, LaLoma Junior High, and Downey High School. After high school I attended UC San Diego as a Math major and then transferred to CSU, Stanislaus as a Liberal Studies major with a concentration in Music. I then attended the credential program at CSU, Stanislaus to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Two years later I decided to go back and get my Single Subject Credential in Mathematics.
Throughout all of the schooling I received, I was able to discover many of my passions. I have a passion for learning and fun! In particular, I love when my students are having so much fun in a lesson that they forget that they are learning. I love hands-on projects and the excitement of new technology. I love incorporating music in my classroom to help student remember difficult concepts. I was lucky enough early in life to have fantastic teachers that incorporated all of these things in their classrooms so that I could be inspired to include them in mine.
I hope you enjoy my webpage!
